Types of volunteer roles

Volunteers are greatly valued by
the Alzheimer Society and are
strongly encouraged to share
their ideas and thoughts on
how to improve volunteer programs
and opportunities that we offer.
 
We have a clear commitment to

we welcome volunteers from all
backgrounds and all communities.
 
There are many volunteering
opportunities across the Society.
We have listed some examples

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors governs the Society and establishes the strategic plan including short and long term goals and objectives for the Society. Many decisions are based on data presented by task forces compiled of Board Members. The Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis, with the exception of July, August and December.
 
Coffee Break Volunteers
Coffee Break is a nation-wide fundraising event that takes place in September. Volunteers would assist with promotion of Coffee Break, delivering host kits, and donation pick up. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Database Assistant
Volunteers are responsible for assisting the Administrative Assistant with inputting data for receipting purposes. Training will be provided. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Discussion and Support Group Facilitator
Volunteers lead discussion and support groups for caregivers of persons with dementia. Previous experience with group facilitation required. Additional training will be provided. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Learning Series Co-Facilitator
Volunteers would assist an Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay staff member in the delivery of a caregiver information group. Previous experience with group facilitation required. Additional training will be provided. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Office Assistant
Volunteers answer phones, accept donations, photocopy, prepare mail outs, and greet clients. Training will be provided. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Public Education Assistant
Volunteers assist the Public Education Coordinator distribute educational material, staff awareness tables and present public education throughout the community. Training will be provided. For a full job description and how to apply please click here.
 
Very Important Penny Program Volunteer  (VIPP's)
