Walk for Memories 2010
 |
Some 38,000 Ontarians are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease each year. Now, more than ever, the services provided by the Alzheimer Society are critical to assisting those who are affected by this disease.
As one who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, I can attest to the good work of the local Society and to the importance of the Walk for Memories in both raising awareness and much-needed funds.
The Walk for Memories is our largest fundraiser. It helps fund education and support programs that assist clients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, as well as their caregivers. Dementia affects over 3,200 individuals in Northwestern Ontario and this number is expected to double within a generation if nothing changes.
Thank you so much for giving your time and dollars so generously to help make a difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating disease. I encourage you to register early for next year’s event. The 17th Manulife Walk for Memories will be held at the Intercity Shopping Centre in February 2011. We hope to see you there!

Honourary Chair
