Founded in 1986, the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay is a first-tier charitable organization dedicated to alleviating the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.  
Human Resources/Volunteer Coordinator

The Human Resources/Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation, training, coordination, recognition and ongoing support of a diverse volunteer base; as well as, providing human resources support for the Society.     

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include:  

·          Determining volunteer and staffing needs for the organization.

·          Developing and reviewing tools for screening, selection and interviewing new staff and volunteers.

·          Assisting with the recruitment, screening, training and orientation of volunteers and staff in partnership with Alzheimer Society staff.

·          Developing a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy.

·          Assisting and supporting the Executive Director manage human resources functions including payroll when required.

·          Orientating staff to a 360 degree appraisal procedure.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·          Post secondary education in human resources management/business administration.    

·          Northern Ontario secondary school graduates 29 years of age or under who recently graduated from an accredited college or university.

·          Previous experience working in a non-profit/charitable environment.

·          Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint software, and the capability to handle one’s own administrative duties.

·          Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to prepare correspondence, review professional documents and chair meetings.

·          Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment meeting challenging deadlines and multiple priorities.

·          Knowledge or experience of payroll systems an asset

·          Previous experience and/or knowledge of dementia is an asset
