Support Groups
Groups are designed so that caregivers and people with dementia can learn from others who may be having similar experiences. All of our groups are offered free of charge, but registration is required.
Core Caregiver Groups
We offer four regular, ongoing support and discussion groups for caregivers. Each group meets twice per month:
-
Men’s Breakfast Club: For men who are caring for someone with a dementia.
-
Caring Hearts Women’s Group: For women who are caring for someone with a dementia.
-
Coffee Club: For both men and women caring for someone with a dementia.
-
Southward Coffee Club: For male and female caregivers who prefer a southward meeting location.
Specialized Groups
We organize a number of specialized groups which are offered at different times throughout the year:
-
Sharing Groups: A monthly group for people with early stage dementia and their caregivers who have attended Just for Us and Caring With Confidence.
-
Diner’s Club: A social group for caregivers and people with dementia. The Diner’s Club meets at a different restaurant each month.
-
Making Connections: A four-session education and support group for men and women caring for someone with dementia who is living in a specific long term care home.
-
Intergenerational Art Program: An eight-session social / art group for people with early-stage dementia and volunteers of all ages.
